Where will the road take YOU?

Destination Diaries

Louisville, Kentucky may be one of the greatest cities in the world... not just because I happen to live here, but because it is true!  Where big city events and entertainment meet the friendliness and hospitality of a small town, Louisville is the perfect place to live, work, play, and visit!

Perhaps best known for the Kentucky Derby, Churchill Downs has definitely put Louisville on the map.  While famous for their aquestrian events, the Downs also plays host to all sorts of exciting things throughout the year, including concerts, family events, and galas.

Louisville also boasts some of the nation's best attractions, like the fantastic Louisville Zoo.  With the addition of Glacier Run, not only can a family experience a wonderful day with the animals, but the kids can cool off at the Splash Park!  Who would have thought of a water play area inside of a zoo?  Yup... that would be Louisville!

This amazing city hosts a vast array ofwonderful museums, including the Frazier History Museum, where history literally comes alive through interactive exhibitions, stations, and even live lectures and historical interpretations. They also offer special exhibitions.

And with so much to see and do, Louisville provides plenty of award-winning hotels, where travelers may rest their heads after a long day of sight-seeing.  Many hotels offer plenty of meeting space to host special events and yes... even weddings!

Ready for some more fun?  Louisville is also home to Fourth Street Live, an entertainment complex that houses nightclubs, restaurants, and even a spot for standup comedy.  This is definitely the place to see and be seen!

In the mood for live music? The hottest tours always stop in at one of many concert venues.  Check out the  KFC Yum Center, while a slew of other artist are appearing at Headliners Music Hall, Louisville Palace, the Showroom at Horseshoe Casino, Expo Five, and the Phoenix Hill Tavern

Louisville is never short on theatre.  Every night, on a stage somewhere in the city, a captivated audience watches as a familiar scene unfolds.  The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts plays home to the Broadway scene, bringing in such national tours as Wicked and Mary PoppinsCenter Stage also never fails to entertain, featuring an amazing list of upcoming productions. And just across the river is the Derby Dinner Playhouse, bringing award-winning performances and mouth-watering meals to patrons for over 35 years!
