Derby Dinner Playhouse will present the new musical comedy COPACABANA, opening February 18 and running through March 30, 2014.  Put on your toe-tapping shoes, because this will be a night of musical theater at its best!

Life is breathed into Barry Manilow’s Grammy Award-winning song as the story of "Lola" unfolds right before your eyes. This stunning spin through such new Barry Manilow songs like “Dancing Fool”, “I Gotta Be Bad”, and “Havana, Caramba”, creates a magnetically choreographed production, full of bright lights and colorful numbers.

The book for COPACABANA was written by Barry Manilow, Jack Feldman, and Bruce Sussman, with music by Barry Manilow. Derby Dinner’s production of COPACABANA is under the direction of Lee Buckholz with choreography by Heather Paige Folsom, and musical direction by Scott Bradley.

The cast includes Kayla Peabody, Jillian Prefach, Cami Glauser, Nick Fitzer, Jordan Cyphert, John Vessels, Sara King, and more!   Cyphert and Peabody are wonderful as Tony/Stephen and Lola/Samantha... really drawing in the crowd with their completely believable portrayals.  Glauser and Vessels bring in plenty of laughs as Gladys and Sam, truly inspiring every facet of emotion in this spectacular production.

The story behind this adaptation is just brilliant, and the peek into the process of songwriting is especially interesting.  With so many twists and turns in this plot, you never know what might be coming up next.  Don't look away for an instant, for fear of missing some of the best action scenes, musical numbers, and heart-warming moments that have ever graced the Derby Dinner Playhouse stage.

The Derby Dinner Playhouse is located in Clarksville, Indiana... right over the bridge from Louisville, Kentucky. It is a theater in the round, and has been in operation since 1974, making it one of the oldest and largest continuously operating theatres in the country!

Some of the best desserts around are also offered, like the hummingbird cake or the brownie sundae!
