Derby Dinner Playhouse will present the beloved musical  MARY POPPINS, running through August 16, 2014.

Based on the ground-breaking Disney film and the classic stories of P.L. Travers, it contains original music from Richard and Robert Sherman, with new songs and lyrics by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe. The book is written by Julian Fellowes, and it is Co-Created by Cameron Mackintosh.

MARY POPPINS takes place in London in the Banks' home, where everything is anything but on track.  Jane and Michael have been through a whole slew of nannies, and George is having trouble tearing himself away from his demanding job at the bank to spend much needed time with his family.  However, all of this is about to change with the magical arrival of Mary Poppins, which throws the entire family into an adventure that will change their lives forever.

MARY POPPINS is under the direction of Lee Buckholz with choreography by Heather Paige Folsom and musical direction by Scott Bradley. The cast includes Sara King as Mary Poppins, Tyler Bliss as George Banks, Jordan Cyphert as Bert, Jillian Prefach as Winifred Banks, as well as local young actors Carolyn Dodd, Caroline Siegrist, Noah Stewart and Braeden Criss.

Sara King completely emobdies the role of Mary Poppins, capturing her infamous mannerisms beautifully, and Jordan Cyphert brings Bert into the Derby with charismatic brilliance.  The dance routines are executed with precision, and it is often impossible for the audience not to sing and clap along.

And if you thought you were in for a routine performance, you will be pleasantly surprised, as the stage jumps to life with special effects straight off a Broadway stage.  In short, this production is "practically perfect in every way"!

The Derby Dinner Playhouse is located in Clarksville, Indiana... right over the bridge from Louisville, Kentucky. It is a theater in the round, and has been in operation since 1974, making it one of the oldest and largest continuously operating theatres in the country!

You will receive a top notch production for your ticket price, plus a mouth-watering meal, served buffet style, boasting favorites like fried chicken, mouth-watering pasta selections, and a meat carving station. Some of the best desserts around are also offered, like the peanut butter pie or the brownie sundae!

Be there early for the Footnotes, Derby Dinner Playhouse's very own musical spectacular, singing sneak peaks from upcoming shows, or additional selections connected to the night's main attraction. With this performance, the Footnotes sing selections form Disney's Frozen, which is met with thunderous applause.  Elizabeth Loos in particular excels with her soaring lead vocal in "Let It Go".
