Broadway's touring productions bring delight to so many people every year, and this season will be no different. The Sound of Music will be playing through October 9th at the lovely Aronoff Center in Cincinnati, Ohio!

This beloved musical has won over the hearts of people all across the globe, but Director Jack O'Brien has brought this production roaring back to life with slight updates and nuances that will thrill audiences. The Sound of Music features music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, bringing forth some of the most well-known songs to ever be performed on a stage, such as "Favorite Things", "Edelweiss", and "Do-Re-Mi". The audience will truly have a hard time not singing along! The book for The Sound of Music was written by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, inspired by The Trapp Family Singers by Maria Augusta Trapp.

This production is wonderfully cast, including stellar performances by Kerstin Anderson as Maria, Ben Davis as Captain Georg von Trapp, Melody Betts as the Mother Abbess, Merwin Foard as Max, Teri Hansen as Elsa, Austin Colby as Rolf, and the von Trapp children: Paige Sylvester, Ashley Brooke, Kyla Carter, Iris Davies, Roy Gantz, Anika Lore Hatch, and Austin Levine.

In the role of Maria, Anderson is like a breath of fresh air, blowing right in from the mountains, mixed deliciously with the charisma and the on-stage brilliance of Davis, as the Captain. Betts hits notes that leave the crowd in awe during her goregous rendition of "Climb Ev'ry Mountain", and Foard spouts off Max's comedic comedic one-liners as if they were written specifically for him.

It's not often that you can find a performance that will equally enchant people of all ages and all walks of life, but The Sound of Music seems to do this effortlessly, bridging the gap between everyday life and "happily-ever-afters", even if but for a night.
